Council approves first-reading rezoning for adjacent lot at 604 West 18th Street from Office to single-family RS

The Georgetown City Council approved on first reading an ordinance to rezone about 0.1778 acres at 604 West Eighteenth Street from Office (OF) to residential single-family RS zoning.

Travis Baird, assistant planning director, described 604 West Eighteenth as the adjacent parcel to the 606 West Eighteenth case considered moments earlier and said the site has been cleared via a demolition permit. Baird told council the parcel meets the dimensional requirements of the RS district, is appropriate for single-family use in the existing neighborhood, and is served by city utilities.

Staff reported that 34 property owners within a 300-foot buffer were notified and that one written comment in favor and no objections were received. The Planning & Zoning Commission recommended approval by a 7-0 vote. The ordinance caption read that the item would amend the official zoning map to rezone the described acreage, repeal conflicting ordinances, include a severability clause, and establish an effective date.
