Mayor Karen Bass opened a one-stop rebuilding center to help residents and business owners in the Pacific Palisades and nearby neighborhoods navigate expedited rebuilding permits after recent wildfires, city officials said Tuesday.
At a press event announcing the center the mayor said she directed 10 city departments to staff the site on Sawkill Boulevard so homeowners and business owners can get questions addressed “under one roof.” The mayor’s emergency executive directive on rebuilding, read at the event, was described as waiving city discretionary review processes and allowing expedited building permits, reviews, and inspections.
The City Council took up agenda items related to the wildfire response during its session and advanced a local emergency declaration and related items as part of its consent consideration (item 28 among items taken later in the meeting).
