The Treasure Island Mobility Management Agency on Feb. 25 approved subaward agreements to begin implementing Treasure Island Connects, a package of transit improvements funded by a $20,000,000 U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Community Change grant.
The vote authorizes the agency’s executive director to execute subawards to 1 Treasure Island, the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) and the San Francisco Bay Area Water Emergency Transportation Authority (WETA) for specified projects, provided the federal funds are available.
The work funded by the EPA grant is intended to support the island’s long‑term growth. Chair Matt Dorsey said the award “is exactly what was called for by our community‑based Treasure Island supplemental transportation study,” and thanked city attorneys for efforts to protect the funding after the agency reported an administrative pause by EPA staff.
