Del City OK authorizes HVAC and painting work for Senior Citizens Recreation Center; ARPA and sales-tax funds cited

The Del City Council approved two separate expenditures on Feb. 3 for the Senior Citizens Recreation Center: a purchase and installation for a new HVAC system from Locke Supply not to exceed $19,000, and a painting contract for the former library portion of the facility with Skyline Painting Pro, LLC for $10,500.
Council discussion identified funding sources: staff said remaining American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds are being used for the HVAC purchase because ARPA permits mitigation projects such as improved HVAC systems. Painting and other minor renovations at the center will be paid from the city’s special sales-tax account established for renovations.
During discussion staff described scope of the painting work as the old library section of the building: ceilings, pillars, walls, brick, break room, restroom entrances, office and a small storage room. Council members asked about flooring; staff said commercial-grade hard flooring quotes are in process and that final flooring purchases will return to council for approval.
Council voted unanimously in favor of both motions. Council members recorded aye votes for Councilman Dean, Councilman Tatum, Councilwoman Brown, Councilman Finch and the mayor.
