Commission approves ordinance setting fees for Western Sports Park; changes take effect after posting

"We started with using our existing fee schedule and understanding of our historical renting practices and their tenant input," Anderson said. He added the county had "conversations with our prospective tenants and how they believe these fees will impact them." Anderson described the change as substantial: "This is, as I mentioned, a pretty big change. It's a new facility."
The ordinance was placed on the meeting agenda alongside other items and approved by motion; commissioners approved the motion that covered items 1 and 2 together. Anderson said the ordinance would begin after public posting and that the county would revisit fees if tenant feedback indicated changes were needed: "If we start to get pushback or feedback that wants us to maybe relook at these fees, we'll bring those back to the commission in the future for additional consideration." The presentation emphasized a balance between competitiveness "in the market" and encouraging use of the facility.
County staff said the fee recommendations reflect market comparisons along the Wasatch Front and a nationwide evaluation provided by the consultant. The county also reported discussions with prospective tenants to assess local impacts; specific tenant names, final fee amounts, or detailed line-item rates were not specified in the meeting record.
The ordinance amends Davis County Code section 2.48.006 and will take effect following the required public posting. No public comments were recorded on the fee ordinance during the Feb. 25 meeting.
