Veterans motorcycle association requests community-center fee waiver for Aug. 2 state meeting

At the start of public comment during the Feb. 24 Northland City Council work session, Chris Newman introduced himself as a member of the Combat Integers Motorcycle Association’s local chapter and asked the council to waive or reduce the community-center rental fee for a statewide meeting planned for Aug. 2, 2025.
“My name is Chris Newman. I live in Roseburg, Oregon. I'm a member of the Combat Integers Motorcycle Association, local chapter here in Coos Bay, North Bend,” Newman said. He described the group as a 501(c)(3) veterans nonprofit and listed community services the chapter provides, including donations to veterans’ programs, assistance for homeless veterans and home repairs for veterans in need.
Newman said the state meeting would draw “approximately 200 to 300 people coming from all over the state here bringing revenue to the city of North Bend,” and requested use of the community center for the event and “that the city council will either waive or reduce the lease for this meeting.”
Council staff noted the date and said they would follow up; no vote or formal waiver was recorded at the meeting. Staff told councilors they would work on next steps and would contact the speaker regarding availability, logistics and potential fee adjustments.
