City staff presented the proposed 2025–26 employee benefits package at the Feb. 24 City of Shawnee council meeting; the council was told it will vote on the renewal at its March 24 meeting.
City Manager Paul Kramer and the city’s benefits partner, Brown and Brown, described the market results from competitive bidding. According to the presentation, Blue KC submitted the lowest acceptable bid for health coverage but proposed a 10% premium increase; Delta Dental proposed a flat premium for dental renewal; and Surrency Vision offered a 5% premium reduction for vision coverage. The council did not vote on the package at the Feb. 24 meeting and is scheduled to consider it at the March 24 council meeting.
No specific employee contributions or budgetary appropriation changes were recorded in the meeting summary; the presentation was described as a report-out of bid results that will be brought back for formal action.
