District officials and financial advisers gave a quarterly update on the district bond program at the Feb. 24 meeting, reporting steady progress on construction and an overall program position close to budget.
David Goldman of Plant Moran said the bond budget now reflects loan interest carry and other program costs and that projected commitments have changed following recent bid awards. Goldman said the overall program was showing about $274,000 under budget at the time of the presentation.
Construction contractors have advanced major projects: the Bloomfield Hills High School wellness center is substantially complete internally, with paint and flooring ordered. Goldman said the wellness center is expected to be turned over in June and available to summer athletic conditioning. Work on the high‑school gateway and new restroom building has begun (site excavation and foundation work), and district staff said they expect the gateway/restroom to be in use by the fall term, with some landscaping to finish later.
The Fox Hills building demolition is complete; crews are clearing debris and removing foundations so the site can be restored for summer use. The Blooming West robotics expansion is underway; the team is raising the roof and preparing to set new columns to achieve the higher interior volume robotics needs. District staff said the robotics facility move-in is targeted for October–November 2025 so programs will be able to use it for the season that begins after winter break.
Goldman and facilities staff said the bond program team will continue to identify opportunities to apply remaining interest carry or savings to additional projects and will bring specific proposals back to the board for approval.
