Lorain Education Association outlines scholarships, plans for International Festival parade

Julie Garcia, speaking for the Lorain Education Association, told the Lorain City Board of Education the association continues to offer scholarships and will participate in the Lorain International Festival this year.
Garcia said the LEA will offer two scholarships for Lorain High seniors and one scholarship reserved for a child of an LEA member. She said details and application information will be available through Lorain High School and the association when applications open.
Garcia also said the LEA is the spotlighted organization for the Lorain International Festival and will have a booth, give away branded items, and participate in the parade on June 29. She said retired teachers are invited to ride or walk in the parade, and the association is seeking help to build a float. Garcia said current teachers may be invited to ride on a school bus and younger teachers and children may ride bicycles.
The announcement was delivered during the meeting's recognition and public-comment time; no board action was requested.
