PDSC plans July 9–11 50th-jubilee CLE event; limited CLE slots planned for defense and private-panel attorneys

The Public Defender Service Corporation will hold a 50th-jubilee conference July 9–11, 2025, providing an estimated 10–12 hours of continuing legal education (CLE) and panels on criminal law and juvenile offense matters, staff told the board on Feb. 25.
Staff said invitations to the judiciary, governor and legislature are planned; the judicial council will recognize the anniversary. The Sixth Amendment Center indicated interest in participating and would cover travel costs if they join, according to staff. The event organizers plan to ask the Guam Bar to approve CLE credit but to limit attendance for CLE slots to PDSC attorneys and private-attorney-panel members. Staff also proposed inviting alumni and first responders (the mayor's council) to opening ceremonies and asked trustees to coordinate invitations for the governor and legislature.
The board asked staff to circulate the conference agenda once finalized; staff said they had sent a save-the-date for July 9–11 and will distribute the full agenda when ready. No formal board vote or appropriation for the event was recorded at the Feb. 25 meeting.
