Bergman said the free certification is designed to bolster seasonal hiring: “The class is completely free,” Bergman said, adding the city hopes to hire graduates from the courses. The division also plans aquatics-instructor courses, a junior lifeguard program this summer, and non‑certified aquatics assistants to support lessons.
