Board names Oak Avenue principal, accepts 2023–24 audit that lists two findings including transportation plan lapse

The Greenfield Union School District Board of Trustees introduced Cecilia Moreno Mares as the incoming principal for Oak Avenue Elementary and unanimously approved the district’s 2023–24 financial audit, which an outside auditor described as carrying unmodified opinions but containing two findings: a repeat internal-control deficiency that required adjustments to balances, and a state compliance finding that the district adopted the required home-school transportation plan after the April 1 deadline.

Cecilia Moreno Mares, introduced at the meeting and slated to begin on Feb. 11, told trustees she was “very delighted to be part of the Greenfield community and… to be appointed as the principal at Oak Avenue.” Trustees and staff praised Oak Avenue’s recent programming in culture and climate, instruction and family engagement during a presentation by school leaders.
