Forsyth County staff asked the Board of Commissioners to authorize the county manager to amend the ongoing radio-system contract with Motorola Solutions Inc. to purchase radio equipment for the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School System at negotiated contract pricing. Wesley Hudgins from Interagency Communications said the $1,691,042.25 quote is based on existing contract pricing and that the funding for the purchase had been approved in the school's FY25 budget (an appropriation of $1,706,805) and previously transferred to the county's 2020 radio system upgrade CPO. Commissioners and staff noted the school district had been overdue for new radio equipment.
No formal vote was recorded during the briefing. Staff presented the resolution for authorization to proceed with the contract amendment and final purchase approval at the business meeting.
