County emergency services briefs $185,171 purchase of three Stryker power-load stretcher systems

Davis said Forsyth County currently uses Stryker systems across its 28-vehicle ambulance fleet and that Stryker recommends replacement every four to five years depending on use and wear. Commissioners asked whether Stryker units are interchangeable and whether new systems represented top-of-the-line configurations. Emergency Services staff said the systems are interchangeable but that heavy daily use accelerates wear; staff noted that newer systems reduce manual lifting and improve safety for personnel and patients.
No vote or contract award was recorded during the briefing. Staff said the purchase was presented for approval and that the county will retire or replace older stretcher units as ambulances are updated.
