The bill’s sponsor, Representative Scarborough, told the committee the proposal would rewrite "Tennessee Code Annotated 4 3 2 18" so the state can assess fees to support operation, maintenance and improvements of the communications system. Scarborough said allowing assessments for improvements should reduce the amount of funding requested in future budget cycles and “cover implementation of the [TACN] moving forward.”
