CB2 approves omnibus package of committee recommendations; recorded procedural votes and two committee items drew opposition

Manhattan Community Board 2 took several formal procedural and substantive votes during its June meeting. The board approved a slate of committee recommendations as an omnibus package and recorded a separate procedural motion to send the proposed state alcohol takeout/delivery bill back to the SLA committee for revision.

Key outcomes at a glance:

- Adoption of the meeting agenda and routine approvals: the board adopted the evening agenda after a motion and second were called. The April and May minutes were approved in a combined vote.

- Procedural vote on alcohol legislation: after extensive discussion during the SLA committee segment, the board held a procedural roll-call vote to recommit the proposed state alcohol takeout/delivery bill to committee for redrafting. The chair announced the result as 38 yes, 3 no and 1 abstention.

- Omnibus package: CB2 consolidated committee decisions (landmarks, SLA licensing recommendations, reopening working group letter on temporary outdoor dining, traffic and transportation recommendations, two parks items, the Schools & Education resolution on equity, and two Quality of Life items) into a single omnibus vote. The roll-call was read aloud; the chair announced the omnibus as carried with a strong majority. The meeting recorder announced 44 yes votes overall with recorded opposition on the Quality of Life item regarding a stoop application for 117 East Ninth Street and on one Traffic item. Several committee recommendations were entered into the record as the board’s official advisory positions to city and state agencies.

- Follow-up: board staff will distribute the full package of board recommendations and track responses from agencies. Where committees requested further action—most notably the SLA committee and the reopening working group—CB2 staff will request and publish any agency responses.
