Several residents and council members used the Kenner City Council meeting on Feb. 21 to press city officials on littering, ask for updates on wastewater upgrades, and request a status report on demolition and redevelopment at 1801 Williams Boulevard.
Councilmember Brannigan described repeated littering and ashtray dumping on medians and suggested residents photograph offending vehicles. "If you are in line . . . take a picture of the back of the car, we have the license plate, and then we can try and do something about it," he said. The chief of police (Chief Conley) and constable's office told the council they would set up an email address where residents can send photos and reports; staff said they will investigate leads and take blight enforcement actions where feasible.
During the public-comment period, resident Greg Taft asked for an update on wastewater upgrades and whether residents would know when major work is complete. The mayor said clarifier reconstruction is in progress and asked that staff (Joanne) provide a more detailed update at the next meeting.
Councilmember Wilmot asked for a status report on the changes at 1801 Williams Boulevard (the city-hall address), including demolition and redevelopment plans. The mayor agreed to provide an update and said the city plans town-hall meetings to collect public input on redevelopment plans.
No new enforcement ordinance or schedule was adopted at the meeting; council and staff described these as operational follow-ups and said staff would return with more specific timelines.
