The following is a concise record of motions and formal actions taken during the Forest Lake Area Schools regular board meeting on Feb. 20, 2025.
- Meeting agenda: The board approved the Feb. 20 meeting agenda by voice vote. (Chair called for ayes; “motion carries.”)
- Consent items: The board approved consent agenda items 6.2 and 6.4 by voice vote after members moved to approve those items; item 6.1 and 6.3 were pulled for separate consideration.
- Bills and checks (item 6.1): A motion to approve bills as of Feb. 20, 2025 with two check exceptions (check numbers 558837 and 558856) was made and seconded. Board discussion revealed both checks purchased “Your Words Matter” T-shirts and wristbands totaling about $1,200; administration said funds were raised by Student Council and National Honor Society and the expenditures were from student-raised funds, not the district general fund. Member Christensen amended her motion to approve all bills while requesting documentation from administration confirming the student fundraising covered those purchases. The amendment carried by voice vote; the board then approved the full batch of bills by voice vote. (Transcript records the motions and chair proclamations “motion carries;” no roll-call tally was printed in the transcript.)
- Licensed personnel (item 6.3): After public comment in support of affinity groups, Member Christensen moved to approve item 6.3 (licensed personnel). A seconder was recorded but not identified in the transcript. After remarks from board members, the chair announced “motion carries.” The transcript does not show a roll-call tally for this vote.
- Award of technology bid (item 7.1): The board authorized the administration to award a technology bid to Tech Check for $263,462.24. This project is funded in part by federal E-rate funds (the district stated E-rate covers approximately 60% of the project; the district covers the remaining ~40%). The bid openers produced two bids and Tech Check was the low bidder. The board approved the award by roll-call; the clerk recorded ayes from Members Tyson, Rebelein, Corcoran, Haglund, Antonson, Castle and Christensen.
No additional roll-call tallies were read aloud in the transcript for other voice-voted motions; the meeting minutes and board clerk may maintain full vote records.
