The House Judiciary Committee unanimously approved a short bill that requires state trial courts to post and keep current information about their terms of court on a publicly accessible portion of the court's website.
Sponsor Representative Montanen said the change is a straightforward transparency and access-to-courts measure: "Right now, terms of court are kind of buried... this just gives a clear and equitable understanding of when those terms of court are." Committee members praised the simplicity of the bill and approved it without amendment by voice vote.
Ending
The measure (House Bill 378, LC 481455) was reported favorably and will proceed in the legislative process.
