Planning commission approves Hangtown Village Square master sign plan revision

The Placerville Planning Commission on Feb. 18 conditionally approved Site Plan Review SPR 78-11-R4, a revision to the Hangtown Village Square master sign plan covering tenant wall signs and projecting pedestrian signs under the covered walkway.
Staff said the revision provides clarity and simplicity for smaller tenants by specifying acceptable sign dimensions, locations, materials and installation protocol. The application does not propose changes to the monument sign, the multi-tenant pole sign or the existing Rite Aid signage. Staff noted the center has approximately 581 feet of frontage with an allowable aggregate sign area of roughly 1,162 square feet; the proposed assignment of one wall sign per tenant (excluding Rite Aid) yields an estimated wall sign area of approximately 395 square feet.
Commissioners described the application as straightforward, well-detailed and consistent with the city’s sign regulation ordinance goal to maintain visually attractive commercial centers. After no public opposition, the commission voted 4-0 to conditionally approve SPR 78-11-R4, adopting findings and the recommended conditions in Attachment 1. The approval is subject to the standard 10-day appeal period to the City Council.
