The Carson City Airport Authority on Feb. 19 approved a 5% pay increase for Airport Manager Corey Jenkins, effective March 1, 2025. The motion passed unanimously after members discussed Jenkins’ performance, regional salary comparisons, and ongoing development at the airport.
Airport counsel and board members reviewed Jenkins’ annual performance. Staff highlighted Jenkins’ role in coordinating emergency preparedness exercises, improving administrative operations, advancing hangar development and permitting, and engaging with state and national organizations to secure matching funds for federal grants. “He did a lot of things this past year and he keeps doing stuff that’s great,” Mr. Takis said during the review.
Board members noted that regional comparisons show local variation in airport manager pay and that Nevada’s lack of state income tax changes the net compensation comparison with California positions. Several members said Jenkins’ performance and the airport’s active development pipeline — including new hangars, through-the-fence permits and potential revenue from the south-side lease — support retention. One member characterized the airport environment as “extremely dynamic” and said the raise is warranted to retain staff.
Motion and vote: A board member moved to approve a 5% pay increase for Corey Jenkins effective March 1, 2025; the motion was seconded and carried unanimously. No public comment was received on the personnel item.
