Parkland commission approves 3% merit increase for city clerk

The City of Parkland Commission on Feb. 19 approved a 3% merit increase for the city clerk following human resources staff recommendations. The vote was unanimous.
Kimball Tista, the city—s human resources director, said the average recommendation from evaluators was 3%. "The average of the recommendations for the merit increase was 3%," Tista told the commission during the meeting.
A motion to approve the 3% merit increase carried on a roll call in which all five commissioners voted yes. Public comment during the item included remarks from former commissioner Bob Mayerson, who praised the clerk—s performance and suggested the commission consider an additional lump‑sum award in some personnel evaluations; Mr. Mayerson also described operational benefits after the city moved public notices to the website.
Commissioners who spoke in support of the increase thanked the clerk and other staff for their work handling public notices, meeting logistics and resident services. Staff confirmed the cost‑of‑living adjustment for city employees is processed on Oct. 1; the approved 3% merit increase is a separate action taken at the commission meeting.
