League City ballpark readies for youth World Baseball Classic; organizers cite major sponsorships and March 13 opening ceremony

Lauren, the ballpark’s business development manager, told the League City Convention and Visitors Bureau board that the ballpark will host opening ceremonies for a youth World Baseball Classic on Thursday, March 13, beginning at 6 p.m. She said the ceremonies are expected to run into the evening and that organizers are planning activities for the night.

The event matters for League City because organizers expect large visitor volumes and broad sponsorship support that could raise the park’s profile and local economic activity. Lauren said the tournament will bring an estimated 5,000 to 6,000 visitors to the park daily, and a total of roughly 23,000 to 30,000 attendees over the multi-day event.
