Hamilton City Council proclaims Arbor Week, announces Utrak opening and tree giveaway

The Hamilton City Council approved a proclamation declaring February 16 through February 22 as Arbor Week in the City of Hamilton and reiterated plans for a tree giveaway on Feb. 19 at City Hall.
The proclamation notes trees will be given away on Feb. 19 between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. at City Hall; city staff warned the giveaway could be postponed if icy road conditions make travel unsafe. The council also announced that, as of the meeting, City Hall would be open the following day but that officials might delay opening or shorten hours if icy roads developed.
Council members also announced the imminent opening of the Utrak facility and said the first event will be the Buddy Hachebottom Invitational in March at 3 p.m.; the council said it plans a ribbon cutting and a short ceremony before the track opens. The council first asked for and approved the minutes of the Feb. 3 meeting before taking up the proclamation. Later in the agenda the council moved to go into an executive session; the subject of that session was not stated on the record.
