Shawnee Heights board approves routine consent items, facility use and enters executive session; multiple votes 5-0

The Shawnee Heights Board of Education took several procedural and consent actions during the meeting, recording unanimous 5-0 voice votes on multiple items including approval of the meeting agenda, approval of the Feb. 3, 2025 regular meeting minutes, business-by-consent items and a facility use request from the Shawnee County 4-H Club.

On facility use, board members clarified that the district had previously approved a separate Shawnee County 4-H Club event for Feb. 23 and that the request before the board on this meeting was for a March 29 event at the middle school that includes the auditorium, gymnasium and classrooms. The board discussed that the March event is larger and will use multiple spaces; the board recorded approval by voice vote, 5-0.

The board also approved business by consent (motion recorded) by a 5-0 vote. Later in the meeting the board moved into executive session "to discuss confidential student information pursuant to the exception relating to actions adversely or favorably affecting a student," and recorded the motion and a 5-0 vote with plans to return to regular session at 7:30 p.m. The meeting concluded with a motion to adjourn that passed 5-0.
