Superintendent Sheila Meggers summarized the procurement, saying the district put the service out to bid under its E-rate process and received three responses. "It really came down to cost," Meggers said. She told the board the district expects to roughly double bandwidth while cutting monthly costs by nearly half.
Board members asked whether the contract rate is locked for the three years; Meggers replied, "This is the 3 year rate," indicating the pricing is fixed for the contract term. The contract term is three years with renewal options, Meggers said; additional technical details were in the packet and district IT staff will provide specific answers if the board requests them.
A motion to approve the renewal passed unanimously. The board recorded the vote as 5-0; no individual roll-call votes were read aloud at the meeting.
District officials said the award follows the district's IT department evaluation and is intended to increase network capacity for schools while lowering the district's overall internet expense. Staff will handle final contract details and implementation scheduling.
