Transportation Commission approves bridge repair supplemental agreement, authorizes multiple grants and contracts

The commission authorized change order Class 3 Supplemental Agreement No. 1 with Towers Brothers Contracting Company Inc. to add pay items for a positive cement surface system and mobilization to address unexplained cracking in bridge deck concrete on listed projects in Southern Marshall County, including work on U.S. 78, Mississippi 305 and I-22. The agenda listed the supplemental cost as $223,234 and the revised contract amount as $1,935,923.47; the item stated no additional contract time was associated with the agreement.
Commissioners also authorized the executive director to execute or submit documents associated with multiple federal transit and transportation funding programs. On event and outreach items, the commission authorized facility rental, meals, training, security and associated costs to host a Statewide Transportation Coordination Summit at the Jackson Convention Complex July 23–25, 2025, with costs not to exceed $45,000, and approved sponsoring a booth for the NDOT litter-prevention program at the 2025 Mega Connection Conference in Biloxi (agenda listed cost not to exceed $700).
Other agenda authorizations included: execution of a work assignment (Work Assignment No. 6) under the roadway design services master contract with Stan Deck Consulting Services Network Group to evaluate value-engineering recommendations; execution of a stipulation agreement with the United States Forest Service for right-of-way matters on a listed project along U.S. 84 and the Hornet City National Forest; and approval to dispose of certain vehicles in accordance with FTA property-management procedures.
