Council approves routine agenda items: hires, purchases, bids, and pay application

The City Council carried a series of routine motions at its meeting, approving hires, equipment purchases, a financing lease, a contractor bid and a construction pay application.

Among the actions the council approved by voice vote were hiring a golf-course assistant manager, approving a lease to finance a new golf-cart fleet, purchasing a 2025 Honda Pioneer utility side-by-side for park operations, rehiring a Safety Town director, awarding a tree-trimming and removal contract to Champion, and approving Pay Application No. 27 for the water-treatment plant project.

The council approved hiring Max Carey as an assistant at the golf course; a council member noted Carey has worked at Prairie Green in Sioux Falls for four years. The council approved Resolution O3-205 (identified in the meeting as the lease) to finance golf carts with Huntington National Bank and Minnetonka. Staff said the lease follows the bank previously used by the city.

Parks staff recommended replacing a 2014 four-wheeler with a 2025 Honda Pioneer because the side-by-side can carry more equipment and accept a larger spray tank. Staff provided a net cost of $8,411.98 after trade; the council noted $12,000 had been budgeted for the purchase. The motion to purchase passed.

The council also approved rehiring Vicki (spelled in transcript both "Vicky" and "Vicki") David as Safety Town director; a council member said the program requires significant time and described it as “an amazing program.” The council approved awarding the streets tree-trimming and removal bid to Champion, and approved water-treatment plant pay application No. 27.
