Hooksett water precinct: storage adequate now but sourcing could limit growth; test well planned
Summary
Hooksett Village Water Precinct leaders told the TIF commission the system has about 1.4 million gallons of storage and recent tank upgrades, but long-term source constraints and late-summer peak demand could limit new development unless new wells are brought online; staff said a test well will be staked next week at a promising Route 3A site.
Hooksett Village Water Precinct officials reported to the Hooksett Tax Increment Finance Commission that while storage capacity is currently adequate, the system faces source limitations that could constrain future development unless new wells are developed.
Todd Smith, Hooksett Village Water Precinct chair, and Mike Heidorn, precinct superintendent, described recent capital work and an ongoing search for new sources. "This tank acts as an integral part of a 2 tank system. We provide through those 2 tanks 1,400,000 gallons of storage and fire protection to the TIF district and other areas," Heidorn said, noting the Thompson Corner tank was recently replaced at double the prior size.
