Residents warn of ongoing movement on Lake Chabot Road, ask council for attention

Spalding thanked specific staff and council members who he said responded quickly after recent movement, including Mayor Gonzales and Council Member Simon for arranging temporary tarping and contractors to stabilize vulnerable areas. He said residents walk and bike the road daily and called the condition a public-safety concern.
No formal council action was taken during the meeting on that item. Spalding said he and other neighbors alerted city staff and that contractors had re-tarped affected areas following the most recent slide. He urged continued monitoring and a more permanent mitigation plan.
The council did not announce a follow-up timeline or specific staff direction publicly during the Feb. 18 meeting.
