Norwalk recognizes first CalHomes homeowners; city CERT thanked by Pasadena for wildfire aid

City officials said the program provides applicants with access to a nearly $2.5 million grant pool and eligible households may receive up to $200,000 in down-payment assistance. City Manager Jesus Gomez and council members congratulated the family; staff said five additional letters are already signed for other households in the program.
Separately, the council read a letter from the City of Pasadena recognizing the Norwalk Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) and the city’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC) staff for volunteering at bottled-water distribution sites during recent wildfire-related “do not drink” notices. The letter, signed by Pasadena City Manager Miguel Marquez, listed numerous Norwalk volunteers by name and praised their organization and service. Jesus Gomez and Mayor Ayala thanked CERT members and EOC staff for the mutual‑aid assistance provided to neighboring jurisdictions.
No formal council action was required for the presentations; they were ceremonial recognitions and public acknowledgment of intercity assistance.
