Clerk said the move is to accommodate construction at the Navarre Library and that the commission will revisit the location in 2026. “By law, we have, a limited amount of time once this is approved to send new voter IDs, cards to every registered voter in that precinct,” the clerk said, adding the communications department will assist with additional outreach to avoid voter confusion.
The clerk noted the presence of a ballot drop box at Station 1 and said the drop box had attracted significant participation in the past; the clerk said the familiarity could help turnout. Commissioner Hader moved to approve the relocation resolution; Commissioner Steelgrave seconded. Roll call votes recorded “yes” from Commissioners Steelgrave, Vining, Jermaine, Stringham, Hader and Mayor Clark; Commissioner Felder was excused. The motion carried.
The commission did not set a permanent change; the clerk said the commission could decide to return the precinct to Navarre Library in the future. The clerk also said staff will send updated voter ID cards to registered voters in Precinct 3 South and conduct broader public-notice efforts.
The commission approved the meeting minutes from Oct. 7 and Oct. 21, 2024, earlier in the session and then adjourned.
