Planning Commission Chair Bruce Sebold summarized the commission’s 2024 work to council on Feb. 18, 2025. The commission held 10 meetings in 2024 and reviewed recommended amendments to the comprehensive plan (including housing impact analysis), submitted priority projects for the FY25 capital improvement program and prepared recommendations for LMO amendments, including floor-area ratio adjustments in the Forest Beach Neighborhood Character Overlay.
Sebold said the commission reviewed and recommended four public projects, assisted with street-naming requested by Hilton Head Fire Rescue and reviewed three major development plans proposed for the island. He said the commission is participating in community engagement for an upcoming district planning process and will begin reviewing a series of priority LMO amendments in advance of a full rewrite.
