Wright County supervisors approve drainage repair invoice, employee wage increases and several administrative items; set budget amendment hearing

Wright County supervisors on Monday approved a $4,965 invoice for repairs in Drainage District 187 and voted to grant wage increases for employees in the treasurer, sheriff and recorder offices, among other routine actions.

The actions came during the board’s regular meeting convened by Chairman Pro Tem Klus. Supervisors voted to accept a drainage-repair invoice for Drainage District 187 Lateral G, located in Section 5 of Vernon Township, covering repair work after a freeze-damaged tile. The board also approved payroll increases requested by elected offices and several administrative matters including a liquor license and a resolution naming county depositories.

The motions were presented and adopted without extended debate. The board set a public hearing on budget amendments for March 3, 2025, at 9:30 a.m.

- Liquor license: Motion by Rasmussen, seconded by Lukes, to approve a liquor license for Oak Ridge Recreation in Goldfield. Motion carries.

- Resolution 2025-8 (treasurer naming depositories): Motion by Rasmussen, seconded by Lukes; passage was recorded by roll call with ayes from Ellis, Lukes, Rasmussen, Bosch and Klus. Resolution 2025-8 passed.

- Budget amendment: The board received budget amendment documents for fiscal year 2025 and, by motion of Lukes, seconded by Rasmussen, set a public hearing on March 3, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. Motion carries.

Procedural notes and context

Board members approved the agenda at the start of the session and read and approved minutes of previous meetings. Several routine claims were approved. The meeting included a brief drainage trustees session to sign the drainage invoice before reconvening as the Board of Supervisors.
