UN: Lebanese Armed Forces deploying south of Blue Line with UNIFIL support; Yemen forum urges dialogue and detainee releases

The United Nations reported that the period set for withdrawal of Israeli forces south of the Blue Line has ended and that the Lebanese Armed Forces are deploying to positions in southern Lebanon with the support of the UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL).
UNIFIL and the UN special coordinator for Lebanon, Janine Hennis Plasschaert, said the Lebanese Armed Forces are deploying with Unifil’s active support and are disposing of unauthorized weapons they find. Displaced communities are reported to be returning to their homes, and the UN called on both parties to meet their obligations to restore a sense of safety among communities in southern Lebanon and northern Israel.
In a separate update, the UN special envoy for Yemen, Hans Grundberg, urged Yemenis to keep doors to dialogue open and to prioritize national interests over factional divides. Speaking at the closing session of the third Yemen International Forum in Amman, Grundberg warned that the risk of military escalation in Yemen is increasing, which could deepen suffering and set back peace efforts. He noted calls for the immediate and unconditional release of those held by Houthi authorities.
The UN spokesperson said these matters remain a focus for UN engagement and diplomacy in the region.
