At the Northampton County Board of Commissioners meeting finance staff reported January year‑to‑date figures showing general fund revenues of $29,931,496, or 79.2% of the annual target, and reviewed enterprise and departmental fund positions.
The presenter said enterprise funds stood at about $2,000,732 (53.2% of budget) and noted that solid waste spending appeared high in cumulative reporting because the department issues a blanket purchase order for the year; that practice, the presenter said, skews the early cumulative spending percentage. The presenter also summarized other fund balances and cautioned that the solid waste percentage will smooth out as the year progresses.
County Manager presented the budget calendar for the 2025‑26 fiscal year and said department heads have received worksheets and are preparing requests. The manager invited commissioners and citizens to schedule appointments to review line items and emphasized that staff will provide additional detail in packets and at workshops leading up to the proposed budget and adoption on July 1.
Commissioners were reminded that the county will include optional workshop dates and that the manager will meet individually with departments and commissioners as needed to answer detailed questions.
