USBE warns of delayed ELA reading/writing reports; explains scale scores and ISRs

At the RISE administration training, USBE staff told LEA assessment directors that reporting for ELA reading and writing scores will be delayed and is expected to be available in the fall.
Elise Fry said the delay affects when RISE reporting and the student-level Individual Student Reports (ISRs) for ELA reading and writing will appear in the portal. She said USBE will either add scoring guidance to the fall RISE administration training or discuss it at an Assessment Directors meeting once the reports are available.
Fry also described why RISE uses scale scores: because the summative assessment is adaptive and students do not answer identical items, scale scores enable comparison across students and over time. She explained that scale scores correspond to proficiency ranges and performance levels (below proficient, approaching, proficient, highly proficient) and showed where to generate ISRs using the reporting generator. She noted writing rubrics and some reporting dimensions were being updated and that screenshots were not yet available.
The training reviewed reporting tools LEAs can use: roster and student views, performance-by-category bars, strength/weakness markers at aggregate levels, the dashboard generator and the download options that send files to the secure file center (PDF, CSV, zip). Fry reminded LEAs that parents must be notified of student scores within three weeks of test completion and that ISRs print from the student results generator.
