Bradley County Schools to hold "Make a Change Day" fundraiser in March to support student needs

Principal Steve Montgomery, whose school leads the event logistics, described the campaign as a one-day fundraising drive coordinated across all district schools. Students will receive collection bags, and totals will be calculated by school. Montgomery said the effort combines student leadership and community participation: "This exciting student led fundraiser empowers us to collect spare change for vital programs that support Bradley County Students." The district said Make a Change Day began in 2017 and that, to date, students have raised about $94,000 through the program. Dr. Cash said this is the eighth year of the initiative and that organizers hope to surpass $100,000 in cumulative fundraising. Donations of coins, bills and checks are accepted; the district also highlighted partnerships with local organizations and schools that host collection events.
Proceeds will support specific programs named in the presentation, including SacPack weekend meal bags, the Boys & Girls Club after-school programs, YCAT and housing-related initiatives and a local "kindness fund". Dr. Cash and Montgomery invited teachers, parents and community members to encourage student participation and to help spread the word about the March collection day.
