Cedar Park introduces new assistant city manager Yoko Matsumoto

City Manager Brenda (as referenced in the meeting) introduced Yoko Matsumoto, who joined the Cedar Park city manager’s office last week as assistant city manager. Matsumoto told council she was honored to join the city and said she had been attracted to Cedar Park when she first visited and felt the position opened at the right time for her family.

Staff described Matsumoto’s background: she served with the City of Arlington for 15 years where she started a literacy program, later served as library director and moved into broader administrative roles; she also worked in Farmers Branch in human resources and participated in the Texas Women’s Leadership Institute (a program connected to Women Leading Government) where she was a participant and engaged in peer learning and shadowing experiences.

Matsumoto said her first nine days in Cedar Park have been positive and that she looks forward to working across the organization. The mayor and council welcomed Matsumoto; her parents attended the meeting and were acknowledged by staff. No formal vote was required for the introduction; the item was presented under the city manager report.
