A theft of radio equipment at a city-linked tower was reported to the Planning Commission Feb. 12. Staff said that during the recent power outage a person or persons accessed the top of the radio tower and took equipment belonging to Ray Batch, described in the meeting as the radio-station operator.
According to staff, the loss was more than $20,000. Staff said Mr. Batch filed a police report and that the equipment was not insured. Commissioners discussed the timing of the outage and whether repeat outages or additional security patrols could reduce the likelihood of similar incidents.
No formal action was taken; staff said the incident had been reported to police and that the city would monitor the situation.
