Later in the meeting, board member Miss Wyatt moved that the board go into closed session under statutory authority cited at the meeting; Erin Long seconded. The chair again called for a voice vote and announced the motion carried. The chair said the closed session was requested to discuss confidential matters under state law, specifically the sections read into the record related to closed meetings, personnel and student matters and attorney-client privileged communications.
The board then approved the 2025-26 school calendar on a motion by Long and a second by Mr. Jenkins; the chair announced the motion carried. The meeting’s consent agenda — which included approval of minutes from the Jan. 14 work session and other meetings, personnel recommendations, policies that stood open for 25 days for input, and an extended curricular field trip — was approved on a motion by Jenkins and second by Wyatt; the chair announced the motion carried.
Board reminders noted an optional work day on Feb. 17, a board work session on March 4 and a regular board meeting on March 11. The meeting was adjourned on a motion from Long, seconded by Jenkins; the chair announced the motion carried.
