Superintendent Jen Wimmer, the district’s liaison to the policy committee, told the curriculum committee on Feb. 11 that the district will begin a wide review of the 300 series of board policies, which govern instruction and instructional programs.
Wimmer said the policy committee plans to pull a broad stakeholder team—students, counselors, assistant principals, teaching and learning staff, student services and curriculum staff—to review content and develop recommendations. She described a process similar to the recent 400‑series review on behavior policies, where the district convened people directly impacted by the policies to advise revisions.
Wimmer said the curriculum committee will see policies in smaller, chunked batches rather than the entire list at once; content questions will be returned to the curriculum committee for input, and policy committee staff will refine language before full board consideration. She invited committee members to suggest items they want to see included and noted the district plans to engage students on policies that affect them, such as valedictorian and graduation policies.
No formal policy changes were presented at the Feb. 11 meeting; Wimmer said the district will provide periodic updates and bring revised or recommended language to the curriculum and policy committees and then to the full board for discussion and action.
