The Kuna Climate and Zoning Commission on Feb. 11 approved a special use permit and retroactive design review to allow a childcare facility for up to 13 children at 346 West Fourth Street.
Troy Beheunen, senior planner, said the application requests a special use permit to operate a childcare/preschool nursery for up to 13 children in a commercial building at the address and also seeks a retroactive design review. "This building did have a special use permit that was issued a number of years ago…that special use permit early or mid year last year got revoked because of things," Beheunen said, describing outstanding conditions the current applicant has addressed, including painting a parking lot and installing a fence.
Staff told the commission the proposal complies with Kuna City Code, state statutes and the comprehensive plan, and recommended approval conditioned on the items listed in the staff report. The applicant and staff were present and no members of the public signed up to testify.
Commissioners described the use as appropriate and a good addition for younger children and moved to approve both the special use permit (case 24-10-SUP) and the design review (case 24-30-DR) with the conditions in the staff report.
The approvals are conditioned on compliance with the items in staff’s report and any required permits and inspections.
