The Cooper City Commission gave staff and two commissioners a consensus to move forward with a community-engagement program called "Crafting with Commission," modeled on Broward Sheriff's Office—rafting with a Cop. The plan envisions inexpensive, quarterly events held in chambers where commissioners sit at tables with small groups of residents to talk informally while doing a simple craft.
Commissioner Mallozzi proposed starting with a minimal-cost activity such as painting rocks and suggested charging a small fee (the backup discussed $5) to reduce no-shows. He said Eventbrite or similar registration could be used for signups. Staff indicated they could coordinate logistics and that the program could run once per quarter with limited supplies to keep costs low.
Commissioner Mallozzi and staff member Alex volunteered to coordinate an initial session; no formal vote was required. The commission agreed by consensus to proceed and asked staff to return with registration details, fee structure and a schedule.
