Troy Board of Education approves routine resolutions, donations and student trips

The Troy Board of Education on Monday approved a series of routine motions and resolutions, including financial reports, capital design-phase documents, acceptance of community donations, adoption of state-provided special-education model policies, and multiple student trips.

Board members said the votes were routine and followed prior work-session discussions. The board also recorded $9,330.22 in community donations for February and a year-to-date total of $136,799.89.

The board approved minutes of the Jan. 13 regular meeting and the Feb. 3 work session, accepted the financial report and a "then-and-now" prior certification of funds, and adopted a resolution authorizing schematic design (SD) documents and estimates for upcoming capital work. The vote on SD documents followed a work session the board said had already reviewed details.

Members approved acceptance of donations, with Treasurer/administration reporting the February donations total and thanking the community for support. The board also voted to adopt special-education model policies prepared by the Ohio Department of Education; staff said Ohio law requires the district either adopt the model or prepare its own policies.

The board approved annual membership in the Ohio High School Athletic Association and approved Troy High School's 2025-26 "plans for learning," which included the removal of several seldom-offered courses and the addition of a comparative literature course that combines American and British literature content. Administrators explained that some removals reflect long-term nonuse or changes in instructor availability for dual-enrollment offerings.

The board approved a Troy High School marching band trip to Indianapolis in November 2025 to participate in Music For All Grand Nationals prelims (a day trip, not overnight) and approved a Troy Junior High eighth-grade trip to Washington, D.C., in May. The band trip will include a performance at Lucas Oil Stadium and attendance at national-level ensembles; administrators said performance date will be Nov. 13 or 14 and that the trip is a prelims-level competition.

Personnel items on the agenda were approved, and the board concluded with direction to review policies in response to public comment raised at the meeting.
