Collierville approves $82,120 purchase of exhaust ventilation system for Firehouse No. 6

The Board of Mayor and Aldermen on Feb. 10 approved the purchase of an exhaust ventilation system for Firehouse No. 6 for $82,120, to be acquired from EDI as a sole-source purchase to match existing PlimaVent systems installed in other town stations.
Collierville Fire Chief Selberg said the systems draw exhaust directly from apparatus so exhaust does not enter living areas of stations. "We began installing these systems in our fire stations in 2021 as part of our efforts to limit cancer risk for the firefighters," Selberg said. To remain consistent with previous installations, staff recommended a sole-source purchase from EDI for the equipment and installation in the apparatus bay of Firehouse No. 6.
With board approval, staff will coordinate installation with the general contractor as the station reaches completion. The motion to approve was moved and seconded and passed on a roll call vote of the board.
