Collierville approves budget amendments to fund ambulance equipment, community center repairs and library needs

The Board of Mayor and Aldermen of the Town of Collierville approved Resolution 2025-205 on Feb. 10, 2025, amending the fiscal year 2025 general fund to recognize and appropriate multiple grants, reimbursements and donations for public safety, parks and municipal services.

JP Spas, budget officer for the town, told the board Fire and Rescue would receive a Tennessee Department of Health grant for $144,750.44 to purchase medical equipment for ambulance units. Fire and Rescue also will recognize and appropriate donations totaling $3,100 toward a replacement rescue boat, Spas said. Parks and Recreation will recognize an insurance reimbursement of $166,151.79 and appropriate $145,000 for replacement of court No. 1 flooring at the H. W. Cox Community Center. The library will recognize donations of $7,007.60 for library needs, and the court will appropriate $22,750 of general fund unassigned fund balance for records shelving at the Stan Joyner Municipal Annex, Spas said.

The board moved and seconded the measure and approved it on a roll call vote. Alderman Nick Robbins, Alderman Hall, Alderman Jordan, Alderman Stamps and Mayor Maureen Frasier voted yes; no nay votes were recorded.

The amendments put grant and insurance proceeds on the town books and allocate one-time appropriations for facility repairs and equipment. Staff told the board the actions recognize funds already awarded or pledged and do not change ongoing staff or program commitments.

The resolution was presented by Spas and there were no substantive public comments or requests for changes during the meeting. The resolution will be reflected in the town's amended FY2025 general fund budget and recorded with the town finance office.
