Cedar Park Economic Development staff told the board they plan to reclassify and post a position to backfill the role previously held by Ashley Kirkpatrick.
“We’ve decided is actually to go through what we call internally a reclassification of this job,” Arthur said. The position’s responsibilities will expand: staff said the new role, titled economic development manager, will continue to oversee business retention and expansion (BRE) but will also include greater project-management responsibilities for the department’s active pipeline.
Arthur said the team met with human resources leadership and that the reclassification paperwork was with HR for posting, estimating that the position would be posted the same week or next week.
The change reflects staff priorities to maintain existing-business services while adding capacity to support a pipeline staff said totals more than 200 active projects. No salary, grade or timeline for filling the position was provided during the public session.
Ending: Staff said the reclassified role is intended to continue the BRE focus while contributing to business-attraction efforts; the board did not record a formal vote on the reclassification during the open meeting.
