EDC staff update: EDA application corrections, Water Street parking garage moved to spring, outreach video series planned

At the Dickinson Economic Development Corporation meeting, staff provided a series of updates on grant work, construction timing and an outreach plan.
David, a staff member, said the EDC convened stakeholders to correct four to six items on an Economic Development Administration (EDA) grant application; two items have been corrected and the other four should be completed in the next several days. He said the EDA estimates a roughly two-week turnaround for review after corrections are submitted.
On the Water Street parking garage project, David said he does not expect construction to begin before April. He also noted he had been invited to be the keynote speaker at the Hispanic Business Network of Galveston County—s networking event on Feb. 20 and encouraged board members to attend; the event was scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at Crystal Ray Bakery.
David described an "educate and inform" initiative in which staff are producing roughly 10 short educational videos explaining the EDC, allowable incentives under Texas law, sales-tax basics and other economic-development topics; he said the goal is 12–14 videos and that the EDC plans to involve guest speakers and board members.
No formal action was taken on the updates during the meeting.
