Design for Dickinson—s planned picnic-ground project has been finalized and the general contractor has put bid packages to subcontractors, the Dickinson Economic Development Corporation was told Monday.
David, a staff member, said Structured Town Southwest has begun receiving subcontractor pricing and hoped to have a final budget by the coming Monday. Once the subcommittee reviews the budget, the EDC may call a special meeting to consider a notice to proceed and related approvals.
Board members said the project has experienced multiple delays. One board member thanked staff for reaching the bid stage, calling it a milestone; others pressed for early notice of the special meeting and asked that the site plan be distributed to board members as soon as it is available so they can digest it and prepare questions.
David said the budget the council previously approved for the picnic grounds was $2,200,000; the EDC will confirm whether the bids will stay within that amount or require additional funds. He added that construction fencing was scheduled to begin around Feb. 27 on the current project timeline, which increases the urgency for final board review.
A five-member subcommittee, which includes Mr. Schick, will review the incoming numbers and forward a recommendation to the full board. No final notice to proceed or contract award was approved during the meeting.
